I get a gold star on the fridge
The in-home nurse just left. It was my first time having someone come to the house for help. She inspected my drains, changed some dressings and reviewed my spreadsheet with all the meds. “Wow”, she said, “You’re very organized”. I know this will seem silly but I was proud that the nurse was giving me such good feedback on all the preparation I had done. I am used to running a business and working with clients and receiving feedback on a daily basis, so being at home and feeling somewhat helpless has been a hard adjustment. Just hearing that I had done a “good job” so far, made me feel like a kid who’d got a gold star on the fridge for doing something right. I am grasping at anything and everything positive. By the time this is over, I’ll have a whole card full of gold stars.

Patti, This blog is extremely inspirational and thank you for sharing your journey:) My hope is that each day you feel better and more rested, especially now that you can recuperate in your own home. I believe that you will earn so many stars that you may have to purchase a larger fridge!!!! Thinking of you through all of this, Janet.
